Project: Electrical & Control System Installation – Draeger Training Facility, Port Talbot

As part of a contract with Draeger, Hyperion/GDI was tasked with the installation of electrical and control systems for a state-of-the-art wood-fired training facility located in the existing Giraffe Building at the Earlswood Training Centre in Wales.

The project included the integration of a smoke cleaning unit positioned adjacent to the building. Hyperion was responsible for delivering the complete electrical control system for the facility, as well as the electrical interface with the smoke cleaning unit.

The facility operates via a decentralised control system, enabling remote monitoring and control. Key functions include starting and stopping exercises, monitoring system states and measured values, and visualising warnings and alarms. The system is driven by a central PLC housed within the main control cabinet.

Our scope of work included:

Full electrotechnical design

Procurement and assembly of all required hardware

Installation of cabling and connections

Integration based on detailed technical specifications and concept drawings provided during planning

This project demonstrates our capability in delivering complex, high-integrity control and electrical systems in specialist training environments.
